To that end, many of the reforms he calls for were already passed by House Democrats in 2022. Our Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act would take these steps:1) Aim to stop voter suppression and election subversion. 4) Curtail the harmful, anti-democracy Citizens United decision by enacting the Disclose Act, which curbs anonymous funders from suffocating the airwaves with misrepresentations. President Biden, a patriotic and determined champion for democracy, has been forceful in his support for these reforms.

CNN —As Sudan marks the grim anniversary of a year-long conflict, aid agencies have warned that the country teeters on the edge of collapse, facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that has been largely ignored by the rest of the world. Shamefully, it has become something else: a wake-up call about a crisis in higher education. It has been painful to watch students at elite colleges implicitly or explicitly endorse Hamas’s attack. They aren’t old enough to remember 9/11, and it’s clear they never learned its lesson: Intentionally targeting civilians for slaughter is inexcusable no matter the political circumstances.

Our 2022 The Lives They Lived issue is about 12 American kids who died from gun violence in 2022. In 2022, all indications are that for the third straight year, guns will kill more American kids than anything else. Black children, especially Black boys, die from gun violence at a rate significantly higher than any other group. Black children are by far the most vulnerable to gun violence, but they are not alone. It is hard to think of a more terrifying or depressing trend in American life than this.
